Being from the UK I’ve never seen snow move like this.
Taken in Stratford, Ontario.
My new directors showreel.
Cloud Nothings - No Future / No Past
Dir: John Ryan Manning
Super intriguing video! Great build up. Great pay off. Great idea.
Now this is nice. I especially like the final third of the video. I enjoy a bit of crumbling destruction.
Great new video from St Vincent. I’m usually not keen on slow motion but this is beautiful.
Directed by Hiro Murai.
Primus - Mr Krinkle
Dir - Mark Kohr
Going through my favourites on youtube I’d forgotten about this video.
One shot. A decent into chaos. Deliciously menacing.
Arcade Fire - Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)
There is an interactive version of this video available HERE in which you interactive with the video through the power of dance (or a mouse).
I personally prefer the non-interactive version as I love the shots, the lighting, the movement and the general suburban / Gregory Crewdson thing going on.
Check out the blog post by the videos director explaining all.

Really rather into this song at the moment. It’s simple and dreamy and plugs straight into the lush centres of my brain.
There’s a lot of legs in this video.
Dum Dum Girls - Bedroom Eyes (OFFICIAL VIDEO) (by subpoprecords)
Los Campesinos! - By Your Hand
I am conflicted over this one. LC! are one of my favorite bands. According to twitter they hate making videos. The song didn’t blow me away like the opening track from Romance is Boring but after only watching the video once it somehow jammed into my subconscious and re-emerged to get stuck in my head days later.
The video looks great. As always, beautifully shot by Nic Booth. It holds up better on a second viewing for me and the plastic bag and smoke idea is great. I think my initial problem is that I see a lot of videos like this, mixing in some performance or vague narrative with lots of close ups of things that are slightly surreal. Very often involving fruit and some tool implemented as a weapon. Also, some of the band could look less miserable. But maybe that’s the point?
I’m probably just jealous as I’d love to do a video for Los Campesinos!

NIVA - the boy from the sun
Director: Joseph Rodrigues Marsh
Infuriatingly simple music video easing soft and pleasant images over your eyeballs.
Infuriating because it’s so simple and so well done and actually manages to keep you watching despite its simplicity and infuriating because I didn’t think of it.
