Explosive paintings by Ben Grasso. VISIT HIS WEBSITE.

This artwork ticks several boxes for me, plugging straight into the architectural, fracturing and imagination node of my brain.

Came across Mattias Adolfsson’s blog.  Incredible illustration!  Love the detail.

Primus - Mr Krinkle
Dir - Mark Kohr

Going through my favourites on youtube I’d forgotten about this video.

One shot.  A decent into chaos.  Deliciously menacing.

Finished reading: Dance Dance Dance by Haruki Murakami

Took me a little while to get into but by the end I didn’t want it to finish.

I sometimes find it difficult to express how much I enjoyed a book without going into endless details. But seriously, this book is still with me even though I’m halfway through another.

Youth Lagoon - Montana
Dir: Tyler T Williams

After watching this video yesterday I found and fell in love with Youth Lagoon’s album.

This video visually echoes Tree of Life somewhat.  The main difference here being that all the emotion that should have been in Tree of Life is instead crammed into this promo video.

Friendly Fires - Hurting
Dir: David Lewandowski

Seeing music videos like this really make me curse how limited budgets force me to constrain really imaginative ideas.

I need to work up to getting those budgets!

R.E.M. - ÜBerlin - Dir: Sam Taylor-Wood

I just grinned all the way through this video.

Immigrant Song - Karen O with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross

I saw The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Fincher Version) for the second time today.  The first time I saw it Cineworld chose to project it far too dark, or their bulb was going, or, more likely, the projectionist had neglected to remove the bloody 3D lens from the projector.

Anyway, I haven’t seen the Swedish version, or read the book, and I really like the Fincher version.  It’s even better the second time around as there’s a lot of information to take in about who’s who in the family and what their roles are and that.

Also, there’s that incredible opening sequence, which I could watch again and again. The video above is the music video version of that opening sequence, the main difference being that the video up there is only showing roughly 1/5th of the actual image you get on the cinema screen and it appears to be in Fincher Bad TV-O-Vision (or more likely it’s just a highly zoomed in version of the original).  You cannot even see the moment with the bird of metal and black liquid flaps it wings of fire in slow motion.

Arcade Fire - Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)

There is an interactive version of this video available HERE in which you interactive with the video through the power of dance (or a mouse).

I personally prefer the non-interactive version as I love the shots, the lighting, the movement and the general suburban / Gregory Crewdson thing going on.

Check out the blog post by the videos director explaining all.
